Personal Development
At Dane Bank Primary School we are committed to ensuring that, during their time with us, our children develop as well-rounded individuals with a strong sense of their place within the school, local and global community. We ensure that pupils’ personal development is placed at the heart of everything we do. We aim for our children to:
- Develop as responsible, respectful and active citizens who are able to play their part and become actively involved in public life as adults.
- Understand the fundamental British values of democracy, individual liberty, the rule of law and mutual respect and tolerance.
- Develop a set of positive personal traits, dispositions and virtues that informs their motivation and guides their conduct so they reflect wisely, learn eagerly, behave with integrity and cooperate consistently well with others.
We are also aware that, for some of our children, their experiences outside of school may be limited and so we prioritise giving children opportunities to participate in a range of experiences. We believe that if we support our children in developing their character and forming strong values, they will be equipped with lifelong skills and best prepared for their future.
This is all underpinned by our 6 school values: responsibility, resilience, kindness, fairness, respect, empathy and our school moto, “Dream it. Believe it. Achieve it. Together, it is possible…”
Alongside the overview above, we also plan in a range of whole-school events which take place throughout the year.
These include:
- Whole School Beach/Woodland trip
- European Day of Languages
- Author visits arranged throughout the year as available – all year groups
