Pupil Premium
Overview
The Pupil Premium Grant (PPG) was introduced in April 2011. It is additional funding from the Government to support children from low income families who are known to be eligible for free school meals (FSM) and those who have been in care . From April 2012 the PPG was extended to include children who had been eligible for FSM at any point in the last 6 years – “Ever 6”
Government policy is:
“It is for schools to decide how the Pupil Premium, allocated to schools per FSM pupil, is spent, since they are best placed to assess what additional provision should be made for the individual pupils within their responsibility”
At Dane Bank Primary School progress is monitored continuously to ensure that EVERY pupil achieves their full potential. We are committed to creating a stimulating, safe and nurturing environment in which everyone feels valued.
As of March 2022 approximately 13% of our school population qualifies for Pupil Premium.
Objectives for Pupil Premium at Dane Bank
- The PPG will be used to provide additional educational and emotional support to improve resilience and progress and to raise the standard of achievement for these pupils
- The funding will be used to narrow and close the gap between the achievement of these pupils and their peers
- We will ensure that the additional funding reaches the pupils who need it most and that it will make a significant impact on their education and lives
- To ensure that all children engage in high quality teaching and learning across the school
Accountability
The Headteacher and Senior Leadership Team will regularly and rigorously monitor, evaluate and review the strategies put in place for PPG and report to the Governing Body on its progress and impact.
